Science Newsletter

Welcome to our new Science newsletter! On this page we will update everyone on all the exciting things we have been learning in Science!

Keep Rocking Year 3!

As part of Year 3's Rocks topic, they have been learning all about fossils. They learnt about the different ways they are created, and all about Mary Anning - a famous  paleontologist. They even had a go at making their own fossils!

Brilliant Bugs!

As part of Year 2's Science unit 'Animals including humans and their habitats', they arranged for Guy from Bugs and Stuff to visit school.
He brought a range of exciting animals, bugs and reptiles to show the children. These included scorpions, a red knee tarantula, a snake, giant cockroach, giant millipede, leaf stick insect, a large stick insect, gecko lizard and a monitor lizard. The children learnt about where they lived, what they ate and how they survived in their habitat. They even managed to touch or hold some of these amazing bugs! The children were fascinated and really enjoyed this experience!

Autumn Challenge

Well done to everyone who took part in our Autumn Challenge this year- the children had to work with their parents to design a conker scientist and they did not disappoint! Here are photos of the winners and their fabulous entries.

Nurse Jennifer to the Rescue!

Year One were so lucky to have a special visit from Nurse Jennifer! She told us that she worked really hard in her Science lessons in school and then went to University to become a nurse.

She brought in some of the things she uses at work to show everyone. She had a blood pressure monitor, a tourniquet and even some bandages and we got to try out all of them! Then we looked at plasters and practiced putting them on each other- it was a great afternoon!
